Illinois State Parks
The Illinois Conservation Foundation provides dedicated financial resources to the maintenance and improvement of our beautiful Illinois State Parks.
Projects include:
- Restoration of the Eternal Indian statue at Lowden State Park in Oregon, IL. Successful fundraising was completed for the $300,000 restoration of what is commonly known as the Black Hawk statue.
- Construction of a handicapped accessible fishing pier at William Powers State Park. We were awarded a grant of more than $150,000 for this project.
- Installation of historically accurate carpeting at the Dana-Thomas House, a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece in Springfield. Completed in partnership with the Dana-Thomas House Foundation to restore the home’s original design detail and integrity.
- Construction of an enclosed therapeutic riding arena at Giant City State Park. A $430,000 public-private partnership expanded year-round access for youth, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
